![]() 18 May 2010, the European Parliament adopted amendments to the Directive on the energy performance of buildings. According to this document, since 2021, in the European Union can be erected only low energy buildings. New public buildings must comply with this requirement since 2019. Wood as a renewable organic material has fantastic insulating properties. In many Western European countries, wood is referred as a construction material of the twenty-first century, which can easily meet the requirements for low energy constructions.
